Endangered Species Day Photo Contest
The Lyon Arboretum is hosting a photography contest to celebrate Endangered Species Day 2010. Endangered Species Day is a national celebration of America‘s commitment to protecting and recovering endangered species in the U.S. In Hawaiʻi, there are more endangered species per square mile than any other place on the planet, so efforts to protect this incredible biodiversity are extremely important.
The contest is open to students and individuals in four age divisions:
Students currently enrolled in Second – Fifth Grade.
Students currently enrolled in Sixth – Eighth Grade.
Students currently enrolled in Ninth – Twelfth Grade.
Adults 18 and over.
Photographs should highlight Hawaii‘s native plants. Only one submission per entrant is permitted and photographs must highlight native plant species of Hawai’i to qualify for this contest. Entries must be received, or postmarked by Monday, May 3, 2010. Winners will be announced on Friday, May 14, 2010. Photographs will remain on display throughout the month of May. For entry forms and contest information, please visit Lyon Arboretum.
