Surfing Film Highwater

Surfing Film Highwater is showing at the Hawaii International Film Festival. This film tells an inspiring story of competitors (and non-competitors) drawn to the North Shore of Oahu during the Van’s Triple Crown of Surfing. With the North Shore as its picturesque backdrop, Highwater examines the heart-stopping action, triumph, and tragedy of the world’s most heralded waves. Over the course of 55 days every year, thousands of surfers, followers, and media descend there for some of the world’s most stunning waves and high-performance surfing. Real life drama, athleticism, humor, death-defying waves, rivalries, parties, heart-break, romance, power of the ocean, injuries, and humanity all collide during this film as it follows multiple story lines over the course of the entire competition. Some of the world class surfers featured in the film are Kelly Slater, Tom Curren, Rochelle Ballard, Andy Irons, Carrissa Moore, Malik Joyeux, Mark Healy, Poncho Sullivan, Kalani Chapman, Sunny Garcia, Pat O’Connell, Sofia Mulanovich, Chelsea Georgeson, Rob Machado, Bruce Irons, and Layne Beachley.

Also showing at the Hawaii International Film Festival is the film The Drifter with Rob Machado.
