Kauai Golf and Kukuiolono Golf Course
The Kukuiolono Golf Course is perched on top of a hill with beautiful views of the South Shore of Kauai. The land was leased from King Kamehameha III in 1860 by Duncan McBryde. His son, Walter, eventually purchased the 178-acre estate and built a nine hole public golf course and park in 1929. It was only the second course to be built on Kuaui. The park features a small Japanese garden, legend stones, and beautiful panoramic views. Walter McBryde loved the area so much that he was buried near the 8th hole.
The Kukuiolono Golf Course offers generous fairways, limited hazards, and panoramic views of Kauai’s scenic landscape. The course was designed by Toyo Shirai and Richard Brun, and features 2,981 yards of golf from the longest tees for a par of 36. In Hawaii, where spectacularly gorgeous golf courses can sometimes have spectacularly high prices to match, this little jewel will not burn a hole in your wallet. Facilities include a snack shop, driving range, and putting green.

Kauai Golf and Wailua Golf Course
The Wailua Golf Course on Kauai is a municipal golf course with a beautiful seaside layout. It is recognized as one of the best municipal golf courses in Hawaii, as well as one of America’s best public courses. The U.S. Golf Association has held three National Amateur Public Links championships at Wailua (1975, 1985, 1996).
Wailua Golf Course was first built as a 9-hole golf course in the 1930’s, with the second 9 added in 1960′s. Toyo Shirai (member of the Hawaii Golf Hall of Fame) is responsible for the redesign of Wailua into 18 holes in 1962, routing an entirely new back nine and redesigning the front side.
Wailua is located along the Coconut Coast on the east Side of Kauai. The first three holes run along the Pacific and a picturesque beach before working itself back through coconut palms and mountain views. The back nine includes Wailua’s original six holes and two ocean-side par-3s. The front nine holes are fairly flat and wide open, while the back nine holes are featuring several elevation changes. There are numerous bunkers throughout the course, and the greens are undulating and well protected, making them very challenging to conquer. Wailua is very popular among island’s residents and quite busy on weekends and holidays.

Kauai Golf and Puakea Golf Course
The Puakea Golf Course is 6954 yards of exhilarating golf on one of the most sought-after golfing destinations – Kauai. Puakea was designed by Hawaii’s most prolific golf course architect, Robin Nelson, and is is a truly spectacular experience. Framed by sweeping views of the Pacific Ocean, historic Mt. Ha’upu, and the lush tropical landscape that served as the set for the film Jurassic Park, Puakea is a delight for golfers.
When Hurricane Iniki hit Kauai in 1992, construction on this Kauai golf course came to a halt. In 1997, the course opened its infamous 10 holes, and in 2002, architect Robin Nelson was brought back to finish the final eight. His masterful design clearly conveys the routes golfers should take for textbook pars, while tempting you with hints at ways to achieve birdies. He set up the holes to optimize shot-making in the prevailing trade winds, along with breathtaking views of the mountains and the ocean, and of course, gorgeous weather year round. The course also incorporates challenging, diverse terrain with deep ravines, mountain-fed streams, and ponds set amid lush foliage to help keep things interesting.
